Sevelamer Carbonate

Sevelamer Carbonate is an anion exchange resin. It is a non-calcium, non-aluminium-based phosphate binder .Sevelamer Carbonate is extensively used in chronic kidney disease patients undergoing dialysis to treat high phosphate levels.

Indications and usage

Sevelamer Carbonate is indicated for the control of serum phosphorus in adults and

Children 6 years of age and older with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on dialysis.

Mechanism of Action:

Sevelamer carbonate lowers the phosphate concentration in the serum (serum phosphorus) by binding phosphate in the gastrointestinal tract and decreasing the absorption of phosphorus.
