Sevelamer Carbonate

Sevelamer Carbonate is an anion exchange resin. It is a non-calcium, non-aluminium-based phosphate binder. Sevelamer Carbonate is extensively used in chronic kidney disease patients undergoing dialysis to treat high phosphate levels.

Indications and usage:

Sevelamer Carbonate is indicated for the control of serum phosphorus in adults and

Children 6 years of age and older with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on dialysis.

Mechanism of Action:

Sevelamer carbonate lowers the phosphate concentration in the serum (serum phosphorus) by binding phosphate in the gastrointestinal tract and decreasing the absorption of phosphorus.
