Sodium Bicarbonate

Acid-base disturbance and Metabolic Acidosis is present in approximately 15% of patients with chronic kidney disease and is a well-recognized complication of CKD.

To correct the acid-base imbalance, Sodium Bicarbonate is the drug of choice and is commonly used by Nephrologists.

Sodium Bicarbonate is an alkalizing agent indicated in the treatment of:

·         metabolic acidosis in chronic kidney disease patients

·         advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

·         replacement therapy in severe diarrhea
